At Maitri Counseling, we aspire to illuminate and empower the people we serve, including our beloved associates as they become their own private practitioners. The foundation of our commitment is to service with Love, knowing that healing takes place only when we address the whole person and his/her/their environment. We recognize how social systems of conditioning can negatively impact wellbeing in our communities, starting in ourselves. Our work is founded on three practices of awareness: 1. being culturally sensitive, 2. being trauma informed, and 3. being present mindfully and compassionately on empowerment models of self. Our therapeutic work rests on two branches of care: 1. contemporary, evidenced based practices, and 2. health and wellness practices derived from Eastern psychology.
Maitri Counseling aspires to illuminate and empower the whole person (mind, heart, body, and spirit) by decolonizing the mind and by facilitating the reclamation of everyone’s innate right—the practice of unconditional self-love (maitri).
At Maitri Counseling, we practice using an anti-oppressive liberation framework. We acknowledge the realities and effects of systemic conditioning and are aware of our own privileges and how these impact our work in the community. We are engaged in decolonizing archaic oppressive paradigms and are dedicated to the wellbeing and collective liberation of our mind, body, and spirit regardless of race, gender, class, sexuality, ability or age.
